And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend, I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

Had them go ahead and do a rotation too, since we were there.
We have a fluffy tuxedo girl we call spicy!
She has progressed since we got her, mostly angry noises and dirty looks now, instead of outright fighting, when we have to do maintenance stuff (nails, dingleberry on that floofy booty). Actually gets in bed with us now or sits in the middle of our couch while we watch a show (we have one of those couches where the middle folds down for a table and cup holders. It now sports a blanket for her in the table part).
Love you for accepting her and not dismissing her as a difficult cat!!
Yep. If it’s in good condition, since it seems to be in a corner, I would take a couple of those fabric strap things to each wall to stabilize it.
We had an old manual Ford Escort that we had drilled the ignition out of and put a switch in instead. No one figured it out without us telling them (friends family borrowing). Ours wasn’t even really hidden, just unexpected… thieves rarely want to spend extra time and effort on unexpecteds.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How to stay hygienic w/ sensory issuesEnglish
2·2 months agoKindnessskills makes some great points. Bet they smell fresh as a daisy out camping!
We used to do outdoor music festivals and would camp for days so we could have a safe place to walk “home” to drunk and stoned. I learned some tricks from those party folks on staying fresh while young n sweaty and tent swapping. Just being able to get a lil fresh water with soap and/or wipes to the stinky triangle (pits to crotch) helps a ton.
You mentioned you already use a tub. How do you feel about taking a bath to get all soapy and sudsy and then just doing a shower rinse off? Even a quick soak ensures it soapy wayer gets in all the crevices.
Other folks mentioned wipes… might want to look into nursing home hospital stuff. Many things made for people who cannot shower or take a proper bath and still want to be clean (found lots of useful things for camping!) As said elsewhere, daily showering (especially hot water) is very rough on the skin.
We used to live near an intersection that, at night, the red turn arrow would just never change. There would be 0 other traffic, cycle after cycle, so… yeah. In some rare cases I’d rather safely go on red rather than wait hours for morning traffic to arrive.

I’m fairly crafty but I may need some tips from that uncle of yours.

52·3 months agoNot where I live. All those charges for the use of their electricity here. I definitely do not have space to set up my own personal nuclear reactor on my patio. Not even sure I could scavenge enough free materials to build it, even if I found free designs/blueprints.

Our girl missed a jump from the toilet seat to the sink today. There is about a 5" gap between the two. Gravity must be heavy today!

cats@lemmy.world•I didn't believe how addicting Churu was till today.English
16·7 months agoAww! We also learned of Churu because of our elder kitty. She passed last year, 20+yrs old. It ended up becoming her only meals aside from meds/supplements. It made me glad to see her still enjoying things and having energy to get around unlike when we were just using the rx food, which she didn’t like.

Dorito Princess
I try to do similar for our kitchen but one of mine just lays there and takes it at the ‘line’ between rooms. He is super food oriented so he’ll put up with anything to stay in the area. BTW I also train my cats to do tricks for treats, food oriented ones are the easiest to get to cooperate with that idea.
I also like to go around and wake everyone up midday when I take lunch (I work from home). Helps make them want to sleep, at least a little, at night instead of staying up being noisy assholes.

cats@lemmy.world•Thinking of adopting a couple of cats, advice welcome.English
4·1 year agoLots of great advice being given!
I wanted to note about the litter. We use the pine pellets from Tractor Supply. The caveat though, no real odor control (per store stuff is made with baking soda, farm stuff not). So, we buy a big ass bag from the wholesale store, use an old large spice sprinkling jar that we can refill, and sprinkle pretty liberally around, and then use some of the pet type of scented baking soda and do a light sprinkle. Use a little scoop to spread a lil and it’s good.
We have 4 cats, 6 boxes. Our pine litter goes in a standard pan and a hooded box. Then 2 of the hard zeolite pellet type boxes hat have the urine pad trays, and 2 auto raking boxes with crystal litter. Almost once a month someone will still hit the floor 🙄 Our girl has aim problems sometimes, but she’s still cute.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What are some good places/activities where a middle-aged man can make new friends?English
7·1 year agoOur local libraries do this too! They are free but waaay less rowdy than others I’ve tried (i loke a lol rowdy). And, usually One and Done campaigns. Do double check if you do see your library has them, ours do adult and teen in different groups.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a movie that "looks like" it would suck, but actually is well written and acted and a good time?English
9·1 year agoI mentioned this one on another post. It’s good enough I’m gonna throw it out there again. Kung Fu Mahjongg. All 3. …and Kung Fu Hustle
Edit to add, thier whole troop is amazing. Silly stories made amazingly entertaining, due to the charismatic cast and, creative and well executed choreography.

11·1 year agoTucker and Dale vs. Evil! Amazing movie! I put it on one day just so I could check it off my list of new things out and, figured if I love the Evil Dead series (and also, as someone else mentioned in the thread, the Re-Animator) how awful could this be… it wasn’t. It was fantastic.
Enjoyed Little Evil too. So, I’m putting Colossal on my list right now!
I wouldn’t have gone to the site if you wouldn’t have noted that!
That was actually a bit more interesting than I expected. The funeral homes sued her for practicing without a license as funeral director/embalmer. Which, isn’t what they do. But they do probably take money away from funeral homes by discussing different ways to go.
I myself, really want to be put in a body farm!!
