I wasn’t going to get into how we form possessives; it will confuse and scare them.
GHOW-da is about the closest English approximation. The G sound is quite different in Dutch though.
Years ago we had a hedgehog wander into garden just at dusk. My cat, who was always very curious, followed the hedgehog around for about 45 minutes as it rooted around for things. The hedgehog did not care at all when my cat sniffed him and (gently) touched him/her with his paws. They do not care.
Doing the lord’s work here.
No I think what they mean was that we did not discover (or the Japanese, rather) that we have separate receptors on our tongues for umami until fairly recently. We knew what it was, but didn’t have a proper name for it.
If you like beans, the pressure cooker is your friend, and the best one is German: Fissler.
FWIW, I have multiple things I should go to in the USA coming up, and neither I nor my family are willing to risk it. My two (young adult) children and I have dual USA - EU country citizenship. My wife had a green card when she lived with me in NYC for over a decade, but turned it in when we moved back long ago. These facts (let alone what my posting history is like) are just too much for us. We won’t risk it.
It’s kind of like a plane crash: very unlikely to happen but you are equally unlikely to walk away unhurt.
It’s got dat alliteration on its side though!
Hey, I understood some of that!
Seriously though as a frequent flier thanks for the insight. Airbus for life. Um, maybe literally…
Otherwise on the current track the US will be unable to service it’s debt.
Not as long as virtually all commodities trade in USD and USD remains the world’s reserve currency. I do get your broader point about any “revenue” raised by tariffs.
Hey, if they get traction, it’s a start.
Unfortunately, fair point, yeah. I wish it weren’t like this. I’m here, and both those places, and I have to say that my engagement with BlueSky is far higher. That said, Lemmy and Mastodon have the potential to be something very special.
Forgot to mention his pet goblins running SCOTUS also.
Bold of you to assume there will be free and fair elections in four years.
You can also search for “starter packs” of helpful people to follow in whatever you are interested in, e.g., history, cooking, overthrowing the government, etc.
You called?
No, but I have a close relation who is both on the spectrum and in therapy who was told this. In the distant past I did have a background in medical research, so I went to PubMed and looked it up for them to confirm.
For extra context, various therapeutic methods do not work as well on neurodivergent people, especially people on the spectrum. CBT, one of the main go-to (adjunctive at least) therapies for example, is nearly useless for most folks on the spectrum.
So it may be that their therapists discovered they were not equipped to help op with their issue(s).
While 700k may look like a lot (and by most objective measures it is), the skill set needed to run a successful non/not for profit is actually quite unique no matter how big or small it is. They do not work not like “normal” CEOs. Replace caring about share price, and moving the share price up effectively versus caring about voluntary donations from people who get nothing out of but perhaps a tax break. And you’re competing not against other equities (stocks); you’re competing against other non/not for profits for limited money and attention.
Anyway, just saying I do not begrudge that level of compensation to the people running the last corner of the internet not filled with AI slop.
