Yeah I was looking at Twitch numbers too, but honestly it’d still be a wild guess why it’s that much higher. Could also be that they do something with Twitch drops, it essentially doesn’t say much about player count itself.
I know previously it was because of world-first races, but I’m not sure if that’s still the case.
Hm last I checked it said WoW had a lot more, I think mostly due to the new expansion at the time. But I think different sources are stating different things, they’re pretty unclear where they get the numbers from anyway, there’s little consistency with other statistics online.

Because features wise it’s better than ever I’d say, I’m not even sure what stuff they added or removed that would’ve made the platform worse.
These kind of articles always remind me whenever a new MMORPG launched, and then people claimed it would be the World of Warcraft killer.
I do think alternatives got traction, but I don’t think any of them are anywhere near actually competing with X though. Perhaps it’s the beginning of becoming a true competitor, but it’s a long ride still.
Yeah but I mean I’ve often seen people claim they leave X for something else, only for them to return a couple of weeks or months later again. This seems to happen with every new similar platform that pops up. It’s just like Lemmy being a Reddit alternative, but it seems to forever struggle to take off, and it never quite feels like the amount of engagement you get on Reddit, just because everyone is staying there or returning there anyway.
I think it’s mostly due to alternatives trying to copy the originals, instead of doing something new that could keep people interested longer to build up a bigger community.

What annoys me about Reddit-like communities (yes including Lemmy) is that there’s this downvote feature.
The whole idea of these discussion boards is to have… discussions. Well, perhaps not so much this particular sub lol. So it’s annoying when you make a post or reply to someone with a constructive reply or argument, and then people can’t be arsed to actually reply, they just downvote to disagree and move on. It’s like the equivalent of people just going like “lol no” and then walk away.
Frankly it’s a feature that feels like it completely contradicts the point of online forums.
Wonder when they’re gonna do that for Adobe products in Europe. Has to be one of the most scummiest subscription services present day. If you cancel too early you have to pay up a “cancellation” fee for remaining time of the month, or sometimes even more I believe. If you do it too late you’ll have to pay for a whole new subscription, and pay for the cancellation fee. I don’t even know why they’re allowed to pull that shit on consumers.

Yeah not all characters translated as good to live action as others.
But perhaps these were constrained by other factors, like budget or time or whatever else was going on. Like a few more things in the Kenobi show felt weirdly low-budget, while other things in the same show seemed very high-budget, it was all over the place.
They could’ve gone for a more similar look like the ones in ROTS, but I’m not sure how well that one would hold up in longer scenes.
That said, a lot of the animated characters were based off live-action actors, and like the OP example they don’t look like their live-action models much and they’re very heavily stylized. The Inquisitor was an animated-only character, so they had a lot of liberty with his design, that’s probably harder to translate back to live-action. Loved the actor though, did a marvellous job of translating the Inquisitors mannerisms.
Reminds me of complaints about characters showing up in live action for the first time and people complained that they don’t look exactly like their Clone Wars versions.
Man, I had recently spent a lot of time designing advertisement stuff around an established brand identity, that was pretty much going for a classy/luxury aesthetic. So I was basing all my designs around that identity. Made lots of variations, took many hours perfecting it.
Then was told they didn’t like it. They wanted something entirely different that “screamed” budget and flashy colors and shapes.
Got it just perfect on the second attempt after being briefed properly, but it did really hurt when my first attempt was shot down so easily.
That’s been pretty much a similar experience I used to have. Especially online games often suffer from poor Linux support because anti-cheat systems aren’t working, or not up-to-date, or something else entirely. It just felt like there was always something. I just want to boot up my PC and get going. Not boot it up and having to spend half the evening trying to figure out why a random driver/game/anti-cheat update destroyed everything that was working fine.
I’d be fine trying it again, but I know that a few games I play are still struggling with Linux issues, judging by the regular posts popping up on the related social media platforms.
Nah it’s a long way from dying, I doubt it will ever go under in the foreseeable future anyway.
