Obesity and being overweight overlap. Like how all squares are shapes but not all shapes are squares
Obesity and being overweight overlap. Like how all squares are shapes but not all shapes are squares
Good question. I got off Reddit after they banned third party apps, but I should probably get off Lemmy as well.
There were a lot of great things about Reddit that originally led me there, but everything I loved about it was gone by the time I left. I was hoping Lemmy would fill that hole; I was looking for a place for great insights and opinions around niche topics. But Lemmy feels more like a political echo chamber, which is a shame.
The original comment we’re responding to is a great example of that. There’s no reason for ignorance to be hated like it is here, but dislike and getting on the negative bandwagon is what Lemmy thrives on.
I’ll probably be gone soon, and your comments are a big part of that. I genuinely don’t mean that as an insult, it’s just that you inspired some retrospection introspection. I guess this comment is basically just for myself in the end, but thank you.
Well, I agree that the users here aren’t nice or smart. So here we are.
Lmao most downvoted comment for asking a reasonable question (albeit with a pretty well understood answer). Lemmy truly is reddit 2.0
No shit
I don’t, I’ll have to look more into it. Having (somewhat recently) done work in nursing homes, I personally didn’t view this as a new problem, but my information could be biased or outdated.
Sorry, it’s just a way of life
Play stupid games, get banned. Lol
Right? It’s not even grabbing my attention anymore
That is not surprising given the number of people that believe in magic
Or religion. Or ghosts. Or Bigfoot. Or demons. Or the supernatural. Or zodiac signs. Or miracle cures. Or chiropractors. Or antivax. Or Qanon. Or sovern citizenship.
It’s always disappointing how many people believe in obviously fake bullshit.
This isn’t rare or increasing, it’s just that one generation is now in the age bracket for it. “Gen alpha is seeing a surge in highschool graduations” would be equally likely in the near future. It’s not surprising, it’s a long-standing trend associated with age.
No having fun in MY politics >:(
Has that been verified?
Yet another “AI bad” post that I can’t replicate. Not that I’m defending Google, they’ve been shit ever since they removed “do no evil” from their strategy, but this is silly. It takes two seconds to verify the top auto generated result when you search something, you literally just have to scroll to the second and third results. If you just take the autogenerated answer (I’m feeling lucky?) without doing any verifying then someone failed you when it comes to doing online research. And for what it’s worth, within hours of this issue being discovered, it was corrected by the same system that made the erroneous claim in the first place.
I’m getting so tired of the pessimists who are against AI. Granted, I can reflect and see my own similar attitude towards Trump: no matter what, I would never vote for him considering his history and who he is as a person. But treating the next generation of technology feels different than that to me; AI is the future, it’s the next revolution. Sure, there are several real issues to criticize and question (copyright, compensation, hallucination come to mind) but instead shit here on Lemmy just gets downvoted to hell with no explanation. I know this comment will get downvoted, but I just wish we could have a discussion about the future without shutting down every practical comment wanting to talk about it.
What an incredible overview that was both detailed and digestible! I really appreciate it, that makes a lot of sense and answered all my questions
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the succinct explanation
I don’t expect you to have the answers, but is the ISS nearing end of life because of technology, or because of gravitational pull? If it’s the latter, how feasible would it be to attach rockets and drag it further away?
I’m not going to argue semantics.
