That’s what is happening but it not happening fast enough. Batteries are great but unless you build out a LOT of them and combine with intelligent grids and power consumption you aren’t covering the output of a nuclear power plant. If you are decommissioning a nuclear plant then you had better have alternative power available otherwise you end up like Germany who did that and then had pull a lot of power from Frances nuclear excess as well as burning extra gas for power. I like renewables, I have solar + battery at home, I’ve built flow battery models and fuel cells to experiment with. I’ve written software to turn my house (and hopefully include my neighbours soon) into a virtual power plant based on my houses output as well as the wholesale market price. It’s difficult to manage when people expect a light to turn on at any time they want. I just get tired of people saying renewables are the only option and when it inevitably isn’t just yet having to burn more fossil fuels when the existing nuclear plant can continue

Who is paying for it? I have solar and battery at home. It cost me an amount that a lot of people can’t afford and its rare that I don’t have to pull from the grid every day while at other times the power company is paying me to take energy from the grid because there is too much renewable energy being produced.
My country is building out battery parks as much as its able to.
Every site seems to get bogged down with nimby protesters who all seems to want renewable energy but not near them.
I am all for renewable energy, I just think a lot of people don’t understand the scale of whats required to replace a single nuclear power plant.

Ffs this is exactly what I mean… To power Switzerland for only 6 hours (38GWh), you would need approximately 30,000 to 35,000 utility-scale batteries. Where and how exactly are you building them?

So you’re happy to go without power after sunset then?
Until we have more storage options or diversified sources then that’s what you get.
Or do you think it will all happen by magic?
Maybe try being less rude unless you have a solution that doesn’t just involve wishful thinking.

Well yeah, its a hard choice but that’s what happens.
Just because its a hard choice doesn’t mean it doesn’t need to be made if the alternative is a lifetime of unhappiness.

Im not American so i simply cant relate to the shooting aspect of it although from ive seen are mostly politcal/racial rather than misogynistic. I dont have a great deal of knowledge of it though so happy to admit i could be wrong with it. There are a lot of garbage men out there, no doubt about it. There are also a lot of lost men that fall for the tate type crap. What i really dont get are the conservative women who support it all. Why?
This has drifted a bit from the original subject and i dont want to end up inadvertantly linking lack of housework to domestic violence! My point is that I think far too many people tolerate but complain about a situation without doing anything to fix it. Obv when it comes to violence it needs ti be viewed through a different lense

Threaten to do what?
If women don’t put up with it en masse then there is fuck all men can do about it. Mass action is how things change

Some women may believe that changing it is just too much work- it’s not an immutable nor innate property of men that they don’t cook or clean or know anything about the children, but changing that would be an overwhelming amount of work. If the man’s not interested in changing anything, it’s even more daunting, and may damage the relationship
That’s what I mean though. Why stay or care about damaging the relationship? Sunk cost fallacy. Some times a hard choice needs to be made. This choice should be made before children/mortgages etc. There’s the old stereotype of men enter a relationship thinking the women wont change and women enter a relationship hoping the man will.

The thing i don’t get is why do women put up with it?
I think some of it boils down to different standards, generally the neater/cleaner person will expect the other person to change their behaviour.
When I hear people moaning about significant others doing nothing I do think that it takes both people to allow it.
Most people will live together for a while before marriage/kids so you have no excuse to complain if you know what they’re like and still marry etc

That’s only one very small component of what cloudflare does.
We were affected by the recent issues and spent some time working out alternatives to all the features we use. It was daunting…

Well the average website isn’t going to be able to protect itself from DDoS attacks or easily provide local cache copies of its content in multiple regions all over the world or create secured tunnels protected from general attacks. My company was affected by this and we are putting in contingency plans for this happening again but the whiteboard that we’ve created with all the features we need to reinvent is very full…

I just can’t bring myself to ever agree with that! Get off my lawn!

Not a bot sorry. Didn’t realise that a single random source with no cross references constituted reliable information

Depending on your definition of peace i suppose

So do tell me what reliable sources of information you use?

Lol the guardian as a propaganda rag? The only people that complain about that are the fascists/right wing. So what would you consider a reliable reporting of the situation? I’m guessing only things that agree with your existing opinions.

Not peace. Peace treaty never signed just not currently engaged

Lol what cool aid have you been drinking https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/jun/28/north-korea-execution-man-k-pop-human-rights-report
Don’t forget smart and assertive
