As much as I am a big fan, and user of public transportation, saying it’s just because billionaires don’t want trains is a bit disingenuous in my opinion. A car is simply much more convenient than public transportation. If I wanted to go to burger king from my house, right now, I could walk 5 minutes to the train station, jump on the train, take that for about 2 minutes to the next station, jump off and walk another 10 minutes to burger king. So like, 17-ish minutes. If I went there to get takeaway for both me and my wife her food would be cold before coming back, even if we live in a scenario where the trains match up perfectly as to avoid any waiting times at the station.

Lets call it a roundtrip of 35 minutes just to get a burger. Again, assuming that the trains, because they are so incredibly wellfunded in this scenario, that I can step on a train pretty much any time I need, instead of the hour it is at the moment.

If I were to take my car, the same distance would take me 5 minutes. So a roundtrip of 10 minutes.

When I take the train to work, I need to bring my bike along because trains don’t stop in front of the factory. Time from set off to arrival is about 45 minutes. In my car I can get there in 15 minutes. That’s 60 minutes of wasted time per day.

My point is, taking trains is not going to work for a whole lot of people, and brushing them and their needs off because of it isn’t going to solve anything.

Not only is it “far from complete”, it’s just a super bad rule.

Blueprints don’t fail, people really really often do though. People measure wrong, or build on the wrong side of the line they’ve drawn. It’s not a question about “Is it essential”, it’s a question about “Will it make it easier, faster and less errorprone”.

I’ve worked in construction, and now work as a CAD specialist, so I know your pain, but the problem with “how to actually put a building together” is a very wide issue, also present with engineers and architects.

I read an article about it a while ago, and that said it’d be tethered to the ground, and power would be transfered through the tether.

It would be incredibly useful in construction. Having a digital overlay telling you exactly where to put up the framing for a separating wall, or an overlay showing the correct distance between screws, or where wires and pipes are inside a wall? There are so incredibly many awesome possible uses for AR in construction.

Why would the car already be at the car wash if you ask it wether or not you should drive there?

My vacuum is unfortunately connected to the internet. It doesn’t seem to have a clue what my house looks like though. It keeps fucking up the map, rotating it and then tries to drive through walls to get to non excisting rooms.

My girlfriend (now wife) got an apartment but didn’t have a bed. I had a bed, but no apartment.

It works as long as you reduce your calorie intake. If you fast for 16 hours, but then pig out on 3000 kcal during the next 8, you’re not going to find a lot of success.

I guess make term limits. You can’t sit more than 2 terms. That would solve a whole shitton of other problems too, but it would make the people in the position of power actually be there for what the job is, and not what the job gives.

I’ve never actually heard of anyone in Denmark getting in trouble for downloading stuff. Sure, some get in trouble by selling it, but supporting piracy just to turn around and selling pirated stuff is fucking hypocritcal anyway.
