  • So is regime change to bring about a liberal democratic government also considered cultural genocide? Like if I’m working against the Saudi monarchy and Wahhabi religious order of laws (which is their long term culture) am I guilty of genocide?

Was the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan cultural genocide? Is forced rendition or even “nation building” genocide? Guantanamo? Rendition?

Are Starbucks and McDonalds guilty of genocide for spreading their “franchises” (Temples of a neoliberal globalist culture really) everywhere?

Is the “culture war” against the institutional racism in the USA a cultural genocide? After all it’s a culture of racism… are the atheists really conducting a cultural genocide with their War on Christmas!? Oh God! Are we the baddies???

If you’re in Finland, don’t deny any of this! It’s illegal now!

PS: Sorry this is a late reply, and obviously it’s argued to absurdity.

  • I use freetube without anything but the issue is that my VPN is blocked now, and a self hosted invidious or piped won’t help with that, right? I imagine I’m going to need some kind of split for the VPN, where some apps don’t use VPN.

But even freetube is somewhat clumsy for queueing videos and proper theater mode without borders. Using Youtube is becoming more and more cumbersome lol.

I wish there was a simple executable that pre-downloads and buffers my youtube channel videos and then just launches an optimized local web server that has good UX.

No, “cultural genocide” is not genocide. There is a pretty clear legal definition:

… any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

    (a) Killing members of the group; (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; © Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; (e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

  • I feel the same. Besides what you mentioned, there is also the effect on what news and content will be produced and shown (see Manufacturing Consent). The advertisers who are the customers of shows want the viewers in a buying mood. So while “if it bleeds it leads” works fine but controversial topics that disturbs people or make them think will not be shown.

Best example is youtube - once the demonetization came there must have been significant effects on what topics were discussed and how. Without sponsorings and patreon it would be worse, but this or rule is shaping our global civilization for the worse.

People pay far too much attention to ideology, but it’s the rules of a system that lead it to converge to different outcomes. And advertising is a big one.

  • The US will not allow them to take Taiwan, too much at stake. Doubtful we’ll initiate.

But the US already did since Biden. They named Taiwan an “important strategic military partner” which goes much further. Basically the US is putting it’s finger on the map halfway around the world right in front of China’s doorstep and saying “this is ours” while China says it is theirs. Obviously Taiwan DID belong to greater China and even though I don’t especially support reunification it’s a slap in the face. Instead of letting sleeping dogs lie.

It’s always the press and people portraying the US has not doing anything but inviting countries into their military alliance. It’s dangerous warmongering. Yes, and the same happened in Ukraine.

I can see the opinions after another proxy war breaks out, oh those evil Chinese devils / yellow orcs! Appeasement doesn’t work, they want to gobble up all the world like Hitler!

Hopefully China is smarter or the USA collapses before that can happen.

  • No clue haha but that is a neat idea. Also my explanation probably wouldn’t really explain centrifugal force to offset the hubble tension.

There was also a scishow or spacetime video about how gravity can be seen as an emergent property of “time / causality is slower the nearer the gravity well”, and that is how gravity works. To truly understand it you have to understand the math and how to solve it, afaik our explanations are all rather imaginary. So you could probably interpret the math to mean that this “spacetime bulging” is the result of a spinning universe.

The bigger question is: Where is the rest of the matter that spins in the other direction? It should have perfectly canceld each other out! (like matter and antimatter also didn’t)
