Haha are you trolling me? That’s literally my favorite song, I posted about it just a couple days ago.

I think you could also make a strong argument for Zheng Yi Sao, basically seduced a pirate king and took over his fleet and became the most powerful pirate of all time.

“Like your job. Love your wife.” - Dell from Trains, Planes, and Automobiles. You can generalize that to say, your job is just a means to an end. Don’t work a job you hate, but look elsewhere for true fulfillment in life.

There is something extremely endearing about humble Christmas trees! Cheers and merry Christmas

Upside down smiley is used as like a smile-through-the-pain, everything is fucked kind of reaction, similar to melty smiley. Similarly the blushing smiley is usually deployed ironically. Or maybe my friends are just really sarcastic haha

Depends on the thing and the mood I’m in. Sometimes I just have to be pragmatic - my life will be better in the long run if I do this because I’ll keep my job, my house will be clean, etc. Sometimes the thing I’m doing is just really fun. Sometimes it’s fun to just check boxes, like your completing tasks in a videogame. And finally, once you’ve established a habit like exercise or stretching or learning a language, it just feels wrong to not do it every day.

Everyone knows 67 = basketball star Lamelo Ball’s height (6’ 7"). It’s a reference to a song that talks about that. It’s now just a silly in-joke reaction to hearing/seeing the numbers 6 and 7, literally the exact same thing as millenials and 69.
Well not everyone knows that I guess - just everyone cool!
Also how weird is it that 2 of the biggest memes of the past decade - the dab and 67 -are both made famous by sports stars based in my hometown of Charlotte, NC (not exactly a cultural mecca)

Seven Devils by Florence and the Machine is a fun one :)

Imagine not playing a videogame because some guy in France likes it and he also (and I’m only guessing here, but this is lemmy) supports Israel

Ok, well I wouldn’t call that “grift” to be honest. The video you linked repeatedly says “Sabine is not a charlatan”. I do think she leans into science controversy a bit more than she should, and branches out from where she’s an expert, but those are less serious “crimes”. I also think her gripes about academia are not completely without warrant and I can’t blame her for acquiring a following of people that are trying to use her criticisms to further their own phony conspiracies.

I used to subscribe to her a couple years ago but stopped. What do you mean by grift?

Part of that is probably all his apps got nuked?
That’s completely different though. So they partner with all the big pharma companies, which makes sense given their research. Unless you think he’s secretly on the take from AZ (idk how you would even attempt to bribe Bill Gates), he does not benefit at all financially from the Oxford/AZ deal and there’s no sign of wrongdoing.
No they don’t dude. AZ doesn’t have a parent company. Immunocore has about 1 billion dollars in assets, AZ has about 100 billion. Stop making stuff up.
Where do you see that? That isn’t anywhere in your link. The only reference to AZ is that they partnered with one of the companies that Gates invested in.
Listen m8 all I do is try to do is stop the spread of misinformation. If X thing is just as bad as Y… just say he did X thing. No need to embellish the story.
No, I don’t think that’s accurate. Oxford Unkversity was going to waive their rights to the vaccine, and Gates pressured them to instead partner with Astra-Zeneca. But to my knowledge Gates never profited from that deal. Now, was there still some shady backroom dealing going on? Very possibly.

I think we all feel that way from time to time, but the way I know it isn’t true is that the closer you actually are to losing civilization and the comforts it provides the less you want it. Freezing your ass off in the rain? Nobody craves the stone age then.

Hey at least I put my ball-spoon there myself
Hmm how about CRT monitors/televisions? Not that common these days but they are basically little particle accelerators that shoot electrons at a pretty good fraction of the speed of light (like 30%). But I guess that’s not really an answer to you question unless you define electrons as objects. I guess my other answer would be airbags which deploy at about 300 kmph
