I can pick that same “general vibe” very well with video but I think I’m yet to acquire that instant read on still images (of graphic design as opposed to realistic scenes). Only one of three, the one on the right, seemed at all obvious to me.

If you got it, sandwich press is best, if it’s fridge cold it’s probably best to wrap it in foil or something and don’t preheat the press, put it in cold, then once it feels pretty warm unwrap the foil give it a little toast. Doing it this way let’s it heat up but trap the moisture so it doesn’t dry out and then the final toasting stage stops it being flabby. Some cafes also do a microwave first stage and then sandwich press which I guess follows the same theory but for whatever reason, in my opinion that never works and it’ll always feel microwaved even if less so. Good method of you’re in a hurry though.

This is pretty accurate but I would say it’s both their flaw and their strength. There’s a lot put on the shoulders of the show probably because it’s such a cultural force and has been around for a long time. They’re often lauded for their take downs and for how well they distilled absurdities in various beliefs and I actually think that praise was pretty well deserved. They can take anything, whatever it may be and find the angle where it is risible and stupid, and that works great for comedy and only becomes a problem when it’s expected to somehow be right in doing so or is to have a coherent philosophy that can be discerned from the years of output and that’s where it really starts to break down. When something like Southpark is around this long and people place so many expectations on it, when it has to mine the cultural milieux for something current and relevant week after week and still stick to it’s “ripping on everybody” schtick, the limits of the actual commentary and messaging start to become apparent. This leads to justified criticism like yours but at the end of the day it was only ever just a tv show and frankly what they do achieve is pretty impressive for the medium and for its longevity even when compared to where it hits the limits of both.

They’re phages, they being designed to infect bacteria. They tested them on e.coli. Hopefully could be used on antibiotic resistant bacteria. It’s in the linked article.

Being on Lemmy, I’ve started to notice how little I know about conditions I’ve had my whole life. I guess I simply got the diagnosis and then that was it, for whatever reason didn’t really feel much interest in reading about it.

Hmm I mean without having to work, that’s kind of what I’d spend a lot of my time doing anyway, especially the sleeping part.
Dude this is the weirdest thing to bring up and very inappropriate. You’re not in control of your friend’s wardrobe and besides, what are you actually implying is going to happen when she’s not as sufficiently covered as you deem fit? Additionally, and this is pretty important, did you consider whether or not she would have liked to have had her picture posted here especially in the context of the post you made? I take it you didn’t ask her? The fact that you took it for granted that you could just do that fits with a pattern where you also believe you can tell her how to dress. You’re going to need learn to better respect boundaries.

Food probably actually is their main product. Granted it’s been a very long time since I worked in a movie theatre but when I did they told us that of $14 or so of ticket price they only made about 50c and that candy bar sales were actually their real business.

Thanks mate. Really glad to hear that. Good luck with it all.

In my opinion, and the fact that it’s just an opinion is part of the answer itself, the term stupidity or stupid doesn’t really mean much of anything. As you say it has a lot of overlap with the concept of ignorance, the main reason someone might choose to use one term over the other is to make it derogatory, or to express displeasure with a person or action. If you’re neutral about someone lacking knowledge of something, you think they’re “ignorant” if you are annoyed by this or don’t like that person, you think they’re “stupid”.
However if you look up “stupid” in the dictionary there is a bit of a difference. It focusses more on cognitive capacity than knowledge. So if you don’t know things because you’re inherently lacking in the ability to learn them effectively, people might say you’re stupid, whereas if you don’t know things because there was simply no opportunity for you ever to have learned them, then you’re ignorant.

I can’t really say anything of what you’ve described sounds strange. What you’ve written seems to mostly suggest that maybe it needn’t concern you too much how strange, if at all, you actually are because your usual preference for solitude and pretty healthy enjoyment of your own company kinda speaks to you having everything you need for contentment and fulfilment entirely within your reach and means already. You could potentially be more insulated from the feelings of insecurity and doubt and anxiety that comes from a more outward facing and sociable set of needs and that doesn’t make you strange. Viewed that way, it seems like your problems are mostly coming from when you start comparing, which tends to be where most people’s lives start to feel worse. When there’s some sense that you’re supposed to leave a legacy, or you’re supposed to want a companion, such thinking can get corrosive to general well being even when you were pretty happy before.
That said, you have indicated some concern for how others perceive you, indicated some enjoyment from and importance paid to having and maintaining relationships with other people, so maybe that really is something you’re missing and it’s causing you a little bit of anguish. That’s a more complicated problem, but also a pretty common part of the human experience and can cause a lot problems for people. It doesn’t sound like you’re “too strange” for others to want you in their lives and to share connection with you in any way though. That sounds like a self imposed restriction that’s unlikely to be something anyone around you really picks up on or considers.
If you are feeling alienated and isolated, this could be for a number of reasons that would be hard to get to the bottom of from your lemmy post alone but I think it might help you to know that you are signalling a certain kind of contempt for people that could be a contributing factor. You don’t need to suddenly enjoy drinking or loud music if you don’t like either but you don’t and probably shouldn’t look down upon people who do or dismiss them all as idiots on that basis. If you really do want more human contact and feel like the lack of it is leaving you depressed it would help if you could be more embracing of human differences. This has an effect even when trying to form a connection with people who, like you, don’t necessarily want loud music or alcohol for a good time. People tend to pick up on negative attitudes towards others as a whole and for the most part it drives them away. I’m afraid I’ve come across as preachy here and you’ll have stopped reading by this point but honestly, I really am trying to help here. If you look back at some of the wording of your post, a couple of things stand out to me
I specially hate the talkative, needy ones who wont shut up and believe I care what they think
And
the world offers me
If by making your post you really are interested in another’s perspective here, I’ll say that these two statements taken together are telling. The talkative people you have such a problem with probably really do think you care what they think and that’s not a sin on their part, it’s kind of a prerequisite for successful human connection which they are trying to make and thought they had, is that so wrong of them? They need to care what you think and you need to care what they think otherwise what are the two of you actually doing here? Granted there will be times when people misread signals and are mistaken in thinking they’ve made a successful connection with you but you needn’t judge them for that, they want and deserve human contact at least as much as you and they have done nothing wrong by trying to establish it, they’re putting in the work and you’re response to this is immature and ungrateful. You’re not obliged to accept their attempts to connect with you if you find you’re incompatible but this contempt that you allow to build is toxic and will get in the way of you ever managing to find someone you do care about and or convincing them to care about you. The second of those statements I’ve singled out sums up where your thinking on this might have gone astray: the world isn’t offering you anything and doesn’t really have an obligation nor tendency to do so, it’s just us people here, on this rock together and in order to get along and live fulfilling lives it’s we, not the world, who must do the offering ourselves . If you’re unhappy with the quality of the people you perceive as being “offered” to you by the world you might want to reflect on what you’re offering them in return exactly. So far it sounds like if someone tries to talk to you or include you, you’ll be secretly or perhaps not so secretly, resenting them for assuming you care what they think or talking too much, or you’ll consider them to be idiots because of their music tastes or enjoyment of drinking.
Again different strokes for different folks, you don’t have to suddenly pretend or force yourself to like doing things you don’t like, but at least don’t hold it against other people for not being the same as you and try to be generous with them and let them surprise you. Your self sufficiency and self reliance are great assets and maybe they could make such generosity for you, a less risky proposition, you might have less to lose since at least you don’t crave human contact in an unhealthy way like some, or suffer from the same anxiety about how you’re perceived as some, and so hopefully wouldn’t have to risk being hurt or suffering greater depression if your efforts don’t pan out.
Good luck any way. I hope things get better for you one way or another.
It does though, the reason it’s relatable as a joke is that it’s a somewhat common scenario. It’s not that people sniff milk when it’s bad, they do so to determine if it’s bad, and that’s usually done in a circumstance where you need milk and only realised that the milk you have and need now might actually be suspect and should be checked. It’s also one of the few foods where such a test is fairly accurate and the risks of illness are pretty low which is likely why it’s a fairly common thing that people do.

Trouble would be, if you did that, you’d really want to be leaning in to the fact that it actually was or very much resembled x specific celebrity and that’s probably when you’d have crossed the line in to unauthorised use of their likeness. If your porn production has nothing to market it as being something people want to watch because the star looks like someone in particular then it’s just one of a million other pornos.
It’s also be legally dicier since it seems that there’s plenty of grey area from the examples people have cited where celebrities successfully litigated against unauthorised use of their likeness and since it’s porn they’ll be so much more upset about it and courts likely a lot less sympathetic to your defence given just how damaging and upsetting it would be for the litigant. At least of it’s using a different actor for a character in a sequel you can still sell people on how much like the character your chosen star is and so even if you chose someone that looked just like the last actor there’s the whole aura around the franchise and the love for the character itself that can help you market it as being basically the same person without having to say it is and getting in to trouble.

That’s hilarious I was going to say it reads like a joke but not because I actually suspected it really was one.

To the extent that you have a choice in the matter, the reason not to fear it is because feeling that fear all the time is going to be a miserable existence that will likely drive you to an earlier grave. That said another way your question could be interpreted is, “why wouldn’t death be considered scary?”, which is that’s your meaning, it is scary, it’s probably quite literally the scariest thing given how strong survival instincts are and the role that fear plays in those instincts. The reason people are not generally always in paralysing fear is because that fear that in some situations keeps them alive, ceases to be useful for most of the rest of one’s life and is actively detrimental to the very survival it’s supposed to safeguard. However, the fact that most of us are not unduly preoccupied with a great of death is probably less to do with an active decision or rational choice and just a healthy instinct to steer our thoughts away from that cliff once thoughts drift too far that way and we experience unpleasant emotions. As far as we know, we’re the only species on the planet that deals with the knowledge of our own mortality so the extent to which this affects your daily probably has some greater degree of conscious mental decisions so I guess that’s what makes it possible for a person to get fixated on the issue and develop unhealthy patterns of thought around it, that might be what’s going on for you, but the other side of that coin is that that means it’s at least somewhat within your power to reach a comfortable medium point between acceptance of mortality and a healthy amount of attention and thought towards it.
This is the 2nd comment i read suggesting pointing out that it’s common practice for employees but not naming anyone else. I totally get the logic, it’s what I would do too, however it seems like it’s unlikely to survive the obvious next question “could you tell us who else for example?”, or “what gave you the idea that this was common practice?” or “have you personally seen anyone else eating company food?”. If such a question naturally arises you’re now painted in to a corner whereby there’s no evasive or ambiguous phrasing to hide behind and hope for the question to be dropped and if you name someone you’ve now officially gone on record making an accusation you can’t necessarily substantiate and if you point blank refuse you will obviously help construct a narrative that you were stealing and attempted to lie about common practice in order to deflect.
Honestly I think if I thought I knew who had specifically made the accusation and they were also the one who was partaking in the same practice AND I was probed further along just the lines as I described I’d probably feel I had no choice but to name names, though I’d absolutely need to be sure that person did indeed make that complaint.
Haha from time to time. Mostly as something sorta amusing because of the absurdity of it, but with the added sting of embarrassment for the parts of the story that are directly stemming from me being an idiot, and the slight shiver down my spine at the thought of people like that out there that will happily attempt to ruin someone’s life on a whim. This is probably the first time I’ve been reminded of it for a few years but I figured it might make your own much more benign experience feel less awful in comparison, what happened to you, that’s something you’ll have well and truly forgotten much sooner than 20 years.
If the gravity is weaker overall, and also “down” becomes sideways, could you find yourself managing to do a higher than you’d normally achieve upward jump (relative to the ground, not the disc centre) and then end up falling for a very long time at great speed back towards the centre until you smash in to any geographical features?
