That’s exactly what arbitrary is. It’s not for a good reason, it’s so they can push bullshit later. The limitations were chosen arbitrarily because they’re not real limitations, they’re entirely imposed by a Microsoft for their own ends. A non-arbitrary limitation is like minimum graphics card requirements for a game - won’t run without it. What do you think arbitrary means?

They’re not trying to get me to upgrade my OS, they’re trying to get me to buy a whole new fucking system for no good reason. Every last one of them can die in a fire.
And that’s before we consider that Windows 11 is actually a downgrade.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Bungie won’t say how much Marathon will cost, but it will be a ‘premium title’English
61·1 year agoWhat a manipulative headline. By premium, they mean it won’t be free to play, and leaving the fact that they also said it won’t be full priced out of the headline makes it clickbait. Fuck that awful website.

2·1 year agoPremium in this context means it’ll cost money. Not full priced means it won’t be £70.
I actually didn’t mention my preference of web browser, I just commented on how obviously stupid you were being due to your being unable to decipher pretty simple comments. Interesting assumption to make though.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•EA CEO Claims Dragon Age: The Veilguard Failed Due To Lack Of Live Service ElementsEnglish
4·1 year agoYou sound like a fucking CEO.
“We ruined this whole game from the beginning by making this single player franchise into a live service and changed our mind half way through, so what we have is a poorly written story with bad characterisation, tokenism, generic combat that always feels exactly the same regardless of how you approach a fight and only three skills to equip for the whole damn game. Obviously nobody likes it because nobody cares about dragon age.”

4·1 year agoFIFA is worse, are you kidding? Obviously, demonstrably worse. When in doubt, err on the side of the company that takes bribes from corrupt governments to decide where their event will be, so that government enrich its corrupt members by building a football stadium using literal slaves.

61·1 year agoWhilst I agree that GTA Online can die in a fire, then have it’s remains unfortunately caught up in a series of fires for an eternity, I think GTA online is available separate from GTAV.

Technology@lemmy.world•The Ugly Truth About Spotify Is Finally RevealedEnglish
21·2 years agoThere are literally musicians with Only fans accounts because Spotify makes then such a pathetic amount of money. Every single artist I’ve ever seen comment on Spotify who hasn’t been amongst the most popular bands in their genre for decades have always said that Spotify is absolutely awful for artists.
Albums/singles traditionally weren’t money makers, merch and concerts were. Nobody is saying record labels weren’t and aren’t shitty, but believe it or not it’s possible for both of them to be shitty at the same time.

4·2 years agoEvery person I know of who’s played it said the actual shooter part was the only good part. Good gameplay, uninspired to crap everything else and, as you said, way too late and expensive to catch the Overwatch train.
Frankly, I liked the first trailer until I saw it was not just multiplayer only, but a hero shooter, making me as far from interested as it is possible to get.

16·2 years agoNo they didn’t? They said the republicans would have to be fiscally responsible. I’m saying they’re still not going to be fiscally responsible, they wanted rid of the ceiling so they could be even more fiscally irresponsible.

News@lemmy.world•US Senate approves funding proposal that does not include Trump’s demand to raise debt limit
163·2 years agoYou’re mistaken. They wanted to get rid of the debt ceiling so they could be even more irresponsible.

No, they claim it is for a good reason to excuse it so they can get away with all the stuff they want later whilst hopefully (from their perspective) making more profit now. It’s the thin end of a wedge.
