I often stop a time or two

At where you used to be

And when I do

I think of you,

And all you meant to me.

I stop to see the empty space

I think of you and smile

You made the world a finer place

For just a little while.

But time was only passing by

Before you had to go

And though I understand the why,

I wish it wasn’t so.

You’re always more than just a pet

And that can never end.

A part of life I can’t forget.

A piece of me.

My friend.
