“If there’s no one telling me what to do how will I know what to do?”

population that will riot in the streets of the president so much as sneezes wrong.
Right, the citizens of France hold their elected officials accountable. Americans don’t.
Beyond labor, the No Kings protests were, numerically, some of the largest in US history. They didn’t do much…
I agee, the “don’t actually cause any trouble” protests, despite being some of the largest in US history, seem to have not slowed the decent into fascism at all. Maybe it was the whole “everyone clean up after yourselves and go back to work tomorrow like nothing happened so this can be easily ignored and forgotten” strategy.
I’m in an org that’s currently seeding strategic industries in the area, in preparation for 2028.
If there’s no resistance before 2028 then the US will have gone full Handmaid’s Tale by then.

“You don’t understand, France has a significantly smaller population! That makes it easier for them to get more people to protest for some reason! The larger population of the US means there’s nothing we can do but go about our lives like this is acceptable and hope we can vote our way out of fascism in 3 years!”
You don’t all need to be at the same place to protest. Everyone in <community a> should be protesting outside their local government offices. People across the country at <community b> should be protesting in front of their local government offices.

Because you think you have a full monopoly and everyone has no option but to put up with it.

On the 26 of October 22 the government of France announced plans to increase the retirement age by 2 years.
Less than 3 months later protests began which led to massive disruption to the country.
The US decends into a full blown fascist dictatorship following the Hitler playbook (imprison/deport “undesirables” and invade a nearby country) and citizens say no action can be taken for over 2 years because it’s too hard to stand up for principles and morals.

People who have been in situations where having a gun would have made things better tend to not be around anymore to post about it.
if others click the downvote button on my posts/comments, nothing happens at all as far as I know.
I think it shares the downvotes within that instance (possibly with other instances that allow downvoting) so anyone else viewing the post from the same instance as the user who downvoted will still see it and their browser will use that when sorting the posts.
Sometimes I miss old forums where content was brought back up by simply posting within the topic
That’s how forums on Steam work and it makes them almost useless. The only posts you see are the rage bait from people farming Steam points from ‘Clown’ awards. Any meaningful post doesn’t get the same engagement as people trying to ‘slam the trolls into submission’ (FFS, how do people still not know you don’t feed the trolls?) so it gets pushed under all the bullshit.
Lemmy’s system is good because there is no account wide total, so it really doesn’t matter if one of your posts gets a lot of upvotes and another gets a lot of downvotes, it just means one was good and other wasn’t.
… And then you get people who really want some kind of account wide total for some reason so they go to websites that total up the number of times a user has given upvotes and downvotes…

Because “everyone else is doing the same thing” isn’t a form of dismissing the problem and burying your head in the sand.

US exceptionalism once again.
“We’re not shit, everyone is shit! But we’re better at being shit than everyone else!”
Okay then.

Capitalism is a shit system, but it took ~200 years to corrupt to this point because the power is more distributed (at first).
The US is reaching the average lifespan of an Empire. Capitalism has not been particularly good at preventing collapse, it has been about average.

Do the Nazis ever claim they are intolerant of minorities because the minorities were intolerant to them?

Group A: “I am intolerant of (group) because they need to go back to their own country and not live in mine.”
Group B: “I am intolerant of (group) because they don’t tolerate other ethnicities.”
This guy: “but who was intolerant first?”

Nice try FBI

tl, dw. When did the discussion start?

So he’s going to rehire the visa dependent labourers RG fired?
That’s neither a statement nor an argument, and is complete nonsense.

I don’t know, when?

That’s a statement, not an argument. If you’re going to start citing fallacies then I’m going to start expecting properly formed arguments.
That statement seems to be based exclusively on him being a union buster, despite the union busting happening 5 years after he left.

When did the union busting happen?
The last protests in the USA also made a point of minimalizing any disruption they might cause as much as possible so they could be easily and safely ignored.
