It’s okay to not start in your ideal job on day one and to take sideways shifts to get closer to it. I went from phone monkey in a call centre, to a letter monkey, to a software tester, to a software business analyst (all at the same company), to a software product owner, to a software product manager. I gravitated back towards my stronger IT oriented passions over time.

They’re raking in huge amounts of additional revenue across the franchise and its associated content, getting new F76 players in to their microtransaction store, etc. The last thing that they are doing right now is kicking themselves.

With the rate of turnover at tech companies, some of their more fundamental legacy offerings are just black boxes at this point.
The notifications in one of our systems is aligned with UTC because it needs to be for a whole bunch of background services to function. Periodically (every couple of years) someone raises a ticket to complain that the time of their notifications is an hour out, and the 2nd line support worker will think “well that’s easy, I’ll just change the server time to BST”. This then brings this whole suite of applications to a crashing halt as everything fails.
