The distinction between socialism and communism gets a little silly imo. Some people claim that communism is a stateless society, and that countries like the Soviet Union practiced socialism, which is just a stepping stone towards communism. You seem to be implying the opposite. Either way, there’s like a million different things you could call these ideologies (state-socialism, market socialism, democratic-socialism, communism, anarcho-communism, Stalinism, etc)

Ultimately, I just want workers to own the means of production in my city, whatever you want to call that.

I hope it isn’t locked into a liberalism ideology too much. If I want to make food and housing a human right, workers employed by the state, and/or democratically owned workplaces do I have the option for that?

My utopian city has no landlords or bourgeoisie and I hope I can make that happen.

I’ll throw a shoutout to Onyx Boox, rather than Kobo or Kindle. It runs Android, can run literally any file type, doesn’t lock you into an ecosystem with DRM where you don’t really own the books you buy. I despise Kobo and Kindle for that reason.

But I totally agree about how nice e-ink is. It’s literally as good as paper. Maybe better. Soooo nice.

I got an Onyx Boox Leaf 2 e-reader, and it’s fantastic, I’d highly recommend it. The great thing about it, is that it runs Android, which means you can get Hoopla, Libby, Overdrive, the Barnes and Noble app, the Kindle app, etc, so all your ebooks are in one place and can be read on your device.

I get all my ebooks for free, by getting public domain stuff from these two places. PG has more selection but Standard has better formatting and is just generally higher quality. This ereader has paid itself off in like 6 months with the money I saved on buying books.

What I’m hear from this is collective cultures help societies in ways that matter and individualistic cultures help societies that don’t.

And I don’t disagree. And before someone jumps in with an “innovation” argument, just know that most major innovation was done by public entities, with public research, funded by public taxes/grants.

So, two concerns with this.

1. Hasn’t it been shown the cameras actually increase accident rates? Basically it makes people drive less predictably, by slowly really quickly when they realize there’s a camera. I could be thinking of red light cameras, rather than speed cameras but I thought it was both.

2. I’m pretty sure they aren’t enforceable? If someone doesn’t want to pay one it’s super easy to get out of. Which ends up meaning that the people who need be held accountable, aren’t. And the people that are decent drivers, continue to be decent drivers.

I don’t think that’s helpful. First of all, why wouldn’t a Nazi want their ideology to reach as wide of an audience as possible? I can see no good reason why not working with Kbin would be a good thing for them.

This seems like a pretty clear case of Hanlon’s Razor to me, unless you have a better argument.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but how is this relevant? Like, is them being “Tankies” related to them being less likely to play nicely with Kbin?

I’m new to all this, so again, sorry if this is a dumb question.
