  • Dude no one here cares to hear about why it’s an awesome game; this is obviously just a place to be cool cause you’re ragging on the game, so carry on I don’t really care about downvotes. I shared my opinion on the off chance that you actually did want a fun game to play, because then you could find out for yourself why it’s amazing. You could easily just watch a YouTube video but since you’re so willing to write a diatribe with your time I’ll assume you do actually want to know why. It’s gorgeous, seamless transitions between being on the ground, walking into your friends ship and walking around in the ship, getting in the seat to pilot that ship, flying in atmosphere, flying out of atmosphere, etc. varied biomes and terrain on planet, flying in and out of cities / space stations / landing in a space station and walking around in a space station all seamless all feels real. You can look out of a space station window and see your buddy coming in for a landing outside, persistent day night cycles on all planets so you can see sunrises and sunsets as you fly around in atmosphere or even from an orbiting station, combat feels really good in ship or on the ground but yeah Im not a big fan of no man’s sky but if you aren’t the kind of person that can ‘make their own fun’ in a sandbox game you probably won’t like SC. This video is already a couple years old so there’s already a ton added since then but it does a good job of demonstrating what I’m talking about if you can find the time: https://youtu.be/53qGEaPRHCQ

  • So is black ops or genshin impact out of the dimension of any reasonable budget too cause they both had more funding. You’re obviously not asking honestly with a question like that. If you actually tried the game you would know none of those come close to the scope of star citizen. Maybe I’m wrong though and you are ‘honestly’ curious, I would say you could try for yourself and still not give a single penny to the big baddies over at CIG cause it’s free fly right now. That’s what I did a few years ago during another free fly event when I wanted to see for myself instead of just letting internet strangers form my opinion for me. I was blown away and I realized I could get a lot of enjoyment out of a $45 pledge ship. Played hundreds of hours since and had zero regrets. Absolutely breathtaking game. Why should it matter to me how many people have funded it? It cost me $45. Yes I’ve played a lot of x4 and elite and eve and freespace and even TIE fighter (1994) and descent not like that should matter.

Edit: now I understand why Lemmy is full of the same repeat opinions as reddit now y’all are just looking for the same filter bubbles you lived in before. Your downvotes say more about you than they say about me; keep it up.

  • Yea I got TOTK and played it for a day on my switch and the aliasing on the trees as I was running around was so awful and distracting that I started setting up emulation on my PC. I don’t run it at 120 but I have played it at 4k/60fps on my living room TV via my gaming PC and it looks absolutely stunning that way. Every time I start it up I’m almost pissed that most people won’t experience Zelda that way. That’s most of the reason I don’t push the performance when emulating on my deck; I’ve got the PC already for the hi fidelity experience.

  • You know what has been great? Being on a vacation and bringing my steam deck and playing tears of the kingdom off of it with better performance than the original switch had. I paid for it and ripped it myself because I still believed it was the right thing to do, but with Nintendo’s increased focus year after year against emulation enthusiasts like we’re fucking criminals, I’m gonna give them something to bitch about. I’m never paying another dime to Nintendo for as long as I live, and that is coming from someone who grew up with a super Nintendo and an N64. Fuck yourself Nintendo. Yo ho and a bottle of get fucked.
