Coal can’t be reused, created, or otherwise obtained outside of mining. Until we remove our dependency on coal, mining will continue.

I’ve heard that before but really wonder if it’s true. My last encounter with (I believe Mormons though it’s been a LOT of years ago) was while we were eating dinner. The front door was open with the glass storm door closed. They came to the door, knocked, then stared at us while we were eating dinner as a family. We stared back and they proceeded to knock another 3 times before leaving. I mean, regardless of what you are at the door for that’s just rude as fuck so how would they expect a nice response?!

Usually around 74F in the summer but I’ll bump it if the temps outside hit the mid 90s. 64 in the winter, I like it cold. I run a portable AC in the master bedroom during the summer while we sleep. Bit of a story there.

Secondary pro tip, some cars (honda for sure) you can triple press the unlock button then hold it and all the windows will go down. So even if you forget to leave them cracked you can use this while you are close to your car to quickly vent the heat. Will open the sunroof too if you have one!

If they complain it doesn’t match their spec you can always allocate what they want but set a lower priority for the VM. Obviously, performance problems are then on you if there is an issue. That will at least appease the low-level support person that will just knee-jerk and blame the lack of required resources when you call for support on something unrelated.

Local backup to my Synology NAS every night which is then replicated to another NAS at my folks house through a secure VPN tunnel. Pretty simple and easy to deploy.

How did you find one that local to you? I’d love to do this as well! I’ve been kicking around just hosting one myself but I leave for vacation in 5 days so that’s probably not a project for right now, lol.

I’m of the “old fart” variety that recalls the days of IRC and totally agree. Back even before forums those communities run off servers in peoples basements were a treasure trove of knowledge and community. I have very fond memory of making real connections with people there. As you pointed out, that simply doesn’t exist on an article with comments.
