Bethesda Game Studios chief Todd Howard has responded to a backlash over Starfield paid mods, confirming the developer will look at its pricing model for Creations content.
Am I having a fever dream or didn’t they pull this exact same shit years ago? like for a week in 2015 that got so huge negative backlash they had to drop it. Then didn’t they pull that again last year with Skyrim…again? and what, now they believe “third time is the charm”?
They must think gamers have the memory of a gnat or something…and well based on the reactions THIS time around i’d say they’re right. They’ll continue to push this again and again and like every time people will be “outraged” but they’ll keep pushing. they aren’t changing and they’re betting on your continued support.
Todd successfully drove me away. Didn’t buy Fallout 76 or Starrim after having purchased every single Fallout and Elder Scrolls game all the way back to Arena. Nice work Todd.
NMS is a lot of fun. I’ve done a couple run throughs of that game to the end and it’s always a good time, even if it does get a bit shallow after many many hours. Enjoy it!
There are two ways to do it now. You can start an expedition with your current save, or start an expedition with a fresh save. If you have an existing save and you have access to the Space Anomaly already (it doesn’t take much to get to this point), I’d recommend to do it from the existing save. Eventually, towards the end, remember to end the expedition with the reward ship selected as your active, so you have a chance to customize it when you continue with the current save.
I’ll admit I was “only” 20 hours into NMS and I was feeling the staleness, but a lot of that is probably that I don’t know what I’m doing.
Luckily, I followed your advice before I knew it - I did already get to the anomaly and I did just start an expedition from that current save. I just got off the first planet on the expedition. One thing where I think I goofed is that I made the primary save too easy (all relaxed) and the expedition already feels more natural in that it’s not as easy-mode.
thanks again! I really like that the expedition gives me a clear “to-do list” which is what my brain tends to go for.
They got sued over this, not long before the Microsoft takeover. The lawsuit alleged that the Fallout 4 season pass should’ve covered all post-release content, including Creation Club DLCs.

The only way to win is not to play.

I might still try it soon, but… Ahoy matey and all instead. I just purchased NMS though so I’ll be doing that first.

Don’t forget to do the currently running expedition (always free/not $7 btw) so you get the free cool ship.
I didn’t know what that meant so I ignored it, I’ll go do it thanks!!

I think they’ll keep doing it until it essentially becomes a meme and we can all roll our eyes each time we see it.
gamers do have the memory of a gnat but eventually Bethy will get away with it and it will have been worth it
