I keep seeing posts from Lemmy or Beehaw instances, but the “from” label seems to cut off part of the full name. For example, a post “[email protected]” will just show “from Chat,” and I can’t tell it’s a Beehaw instance unless I click on it and scroll to the bottom of all of the comments to see all the information that identifies it as a Beehaw instance. Is there a way to be able to see this information without having to do all that scrolling?

Edit: it also gets more confusing that some posts will straight up say “kbin.social” next to the post title even if they were posted in a different instance. I don’t understand why this happens.

You can mouse over the poster’s name and it shows their instance. I think that should be more visible than it is, maybe another option to display it or hide it for those who want minimal space used.

Hmm, can’t mouse over it on mobile. ;_; I’m considering switching to a different instance because the more I try to use kbin, the more confusing and less user friendly it seems.

You have to find what works best for you. Lemmy has a few apps that people are liking, so once the latest version comes out you can try them and see if they work better for a mobile situation. No reason you can’t have accounts in both places or more, just to find the best “final” home. We’re all still figuring out stuff. :) Just make sure the Lemmy home(s) are connected to places you may want to see, some have been defederated and so don’t get the full potential feeds (which could be good or bad for you).

They are different applications (how you read the messages) and servers (where your account is based) , but can share federated content.
