Hi,

Recently i accidentally messed up my system on Linux and had to re-install it, i backed up my Firefox profiles before re-installing. Now i tried to follow the following guide that is made my Mozilla about restoring Firefox profiles to a new PC https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles, after following the steps i find that not everything is kept. For example, the extensions i have installed were there but it was like i just installed them since they had none of the previous data of my old Firefox install. Another apparent example is the firefoxcss that i had previously in my computer didn’t seem to work (i probably have to re-enable it). in my profile i ticked the option for deleting cookies every time i close Firefox, while this works, i think it works too well because it resets Firefox entirely, like it will even remove extension data if i did any modifications to them, and will give me the welcome to Firefox screen thingy.

So i was wondering if there was a possible fix for it somehow since i don’t want to re-do my profiles manually.

I generally back up the whole ~/.mozilla, and if I restore it after reinstall, everything is as it was. I’ve not tried isolating only the profile, seems pointlessly complicated.

I mean in the guide given by Firefox about this they said to copy the desired profile only, i guess perhaps it’s too late now and i need to re-do my profile?

You’re still using the previous user name? … otherwise problematic.

i think it works too well because it resets Firefox entirely, like it will even remove extension data if i did any modifications to them,

I had the opposite issue a while back, cookies weren’t being deleted at all. I had to start over with a fresh profile to fix it.
