And at this point, there is no going back. I’d guarantee that young people are already seeing no point in bothering to lean musically instruments, or traditional art.

Not all of them. I’ve got three school aged kids, one plays guitar and saxophone, one plays clarinet and trumpet, one is just starting the trombone.
If anything, I am seeing the kids push back against this shit. My kids have an ear for and hate ai produced music; they get so angry about “clanker music”. They really value being able to make their own, and I love the constant noise of real instruments being practiced in my house.
Lots don’t care, but there are still many pockets of kids who hate all this as much as we do, and are pursuing a more analog lifestyle.

We feel similarly about this topic. You might look into donating to one of their unions. I donated to SAG for a long time in lieu of paying for Netflix et al. The money doesn’t go directly to artists but it does help keep their posture strong in negotiations and strikes. Of course I’m piss broke now, but it felt nice to contribute materially while it lasted.

I recently learned Netflix and other streaming providers now create content with the assumption of being a “second screen”. They repeat plot points and dumb it down so that people scrolling on their phones and only halfway paying attention can still follow along. We’re down a bad path in general and AI sure isn’t helping. Maybe the next step is AI summaries so people don’t even have to watch the AI slop content in the first place?

My boss constantly says, “Use AI,” and after a whole day of prompting I have a large body of work that basically isn’t mine and I receive zero satisfaction from it.
I’m being told to use AI more and more too and I’ve managed to get by without selling my soul to it but idk how long I’ll be until I get let go just because I’m not dumping hundreds of thousands of slop code daily. I’ve been hearing more and more coworkers talk about how they haven’t written any code in weeks and are now just checking up on their agents occasionally and it’s filling me with actual existential dread and depression. That’s “zero or negative value algorithmic sludge.” Nobody wants to pay for it, often having it around devalues the experience, the platform you’re trying to sell it through and devalues all other products on that platform. There is some small minority able to squeeze money out of this I guess so they keep doing it.
As someone who plays live music, the live gig scene is on the up, I think because people are sick of the slop and want assured human connection.

Every time I discover a seemingly new artist with an intriguing sound. The moment I find out that it’s some dumbasses “solo” project realized through AI. They’re blacklisted forever. Go download a DAW and at least put in the basic effort.

I agree with all your points EXCEPT a solo artist automatically getting ignored by me or blocked or whatever. If I had assumed that of Beck if he were a new artist today I’d have missed out on one of the greatest artists of modern music. I make sure I understand who they are and how they produce music before I put them in the permanent trash can.
