When my mom was a kid they didn’t believe that children felt pain or need Novocain for dental extractions. It was ten years ago that article came out about white doctors thinking black people feel “less” pain than everyone else. Babies still don’t get a local anesthetic to cut part of their penis off. Medical acknowledgment of the ability to feel pain is directly related to your proximity to being a white adult male.

They only started believing that the cervix had nerves and is able to feel pain like 5 years ago.
