European natural gas prices surged on Monday as the escalating conflict in the Middle East caused Qatar to stop LNG production at the world’s top plant.
In fact, I don’t see where else they could get it at this point. Export capacity from the US is limited, and their producers can’t fill such a huge gap. The real question is why Russia would sell gas to them right now instead of their partners in BRICS.
The best possible outcome is for Europe to return to being an agrarian economy. The world doesn’t need European manufacturing, and Europe might become peaceful or at least less of a threat to the rest of the world.
