Its time to share the wiki and get your friends on board the ship as we set sail. We all have to rally together to stop the neverending subscription model.
Give them this map; its all the booty they need: https://rentry.co/megathread
Is this a screenshot from a porn video?
Weird isn’t it? I don’t recognise either of them, I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen that one, everyone appears clothed, yet it just has porn vibes.
It came from an advert advertising a porn video. I liked the scroll he was holding.
Probably why I’ve never seen it. I live ad free as much as possible.
Upvote this man immediately.
Unknown actors, some weird bunk bed on the side, some power dynamic going on with the guy, low-quality set design, looks like they spent more on the girl’s makeup than anything else in the shot.
Oh fuck put it back
I was already pirating but this will help me do it better. Thank you!
Same. I have already taught some of my friends and they are enjoying it.
The first line in the megathread is silly
Instead of installing firefox and setting up… Just install Librewolf. A firefox fork with UO built in, and all the privacy settings activated by default. Even the hidden ones.
And yes is still supports FF sync etc.
By default it clears cache etc when you close it. It can be annoying for some users.
Firefox > Any fork. You can set up Firefox exactly like any fork you like but still get same day updates and security patches.
We should have a section on the mega thread on how to setup Firefox. I would guess I don’t understand >70% of the options in the settins.
Information on wikis can get out of date if nobody updates it. Probably just needs someone to refresh it a bit.
I just use Firefox Nightly and whatever add-ons I need.
Sorry boys I’m keeping my geoguessr subscription
Consider geotastic
I had no idea this alternative existed.
Thank you for sharing! I’ve got to try this.
I’m glad this community exists. I’m a very lazy pirate so having all this info in a easy to find list is great. Thanks everyone!
Mullvad no longer supports port forwarding and isn’t really used by anyone in the torrenting community any longer. Most of those users have moved over to IVPN or AirVPN.
I’ve been using it for torrenting for ages. What’s this about port forwarding?
Port forwarding allows you to connect to DHT/PeX swarms and helps saturate your client with connections. In practice, it allows for faster speeds as more connections are established.
I literally did not know this. I haven’t had any kind of issues so I’m not going to worry about it, but it’s something that I would have considered during initial setup.
I really wish CGPeers had open registration. I feel like you all would love the shit out of that.
Been hoping for that for a long time, lol.
is PIA still a decent VPN? What about torrent clients? I used to use an older version of uTorrent but now I’m on Kubuntu and it has a built in torrent client.
Short answer by making a few assumptions: Don’t patronize PIA unless you can’t or don’t want to pay for better, and the built in torrent client is fine if you’re happy with it, but qBittorrent would be a good match with your desktop environment if you want to try something else.
Happy to answer questions in like 10h when i’m awake again lol
I don’t use PIA, but for anyone also wondering, what VPN for you suggest investing a subscription for? Any why?
Sorry for the late reply.
Per @[email protected] it depends at least to some degree on your needs. Mullvad is a popular and well-respected option (though it is the very provider rambos is alluding to because they recently removed the port forwarding feature because there was no way to implement it without negatively impacting privacy - a positive thing for privacy, but a negative thing for those who need the feature). I’m also a fan of IVPN because they open source all of their very high-quality clients (as do Mullvad) and they cater to a more technical audience. Proton has been getting some decent press recently for open sourcing their clients, but there’s a rumor going around that they’re actually reselling NordVPN which is one of the less reputable providers.
Happy to provide more points of interest with more context on your needs.
Thanks for the detailed reply and no problem, I know how easy it is to get busy lol.
Can you comment on the yearly price difference between the two? My only concern is everything lately is seeing price increases. Also which would you say would be best speed wise, and does either have limitations on the number of devices?
Really appreciate you taking the time to answer, because it’s so hard to choose these days.
I have now enabled email notifications 😂
Billing-wise Mullvad bills in Euro and IVPN in USD. IVPN standard (2 devices) is priced about the same as Mullvad (5 devices), or IVPN pro is about another third higher-priced but has a 7-device limit. See IVPN pricing, Mullvad pricing. Mullvad is most likely the best bang for your buck of the two.
Lol Funny you mention email notifications, I just enabled mine too.
And, thanks for the information, I’m stateside but I’ll go with Mullvad! Glad to know there’s an alternative though.
Good stuff 💯
AirVPN because I couldnt find better deal with port forwarding
PIA is owned by Kape Technologies., a dodgy company, founded by a member is Israel’s Intelligence Devision. They’re known to spread malware, steal users data, and redirect traffic to advertisers. That being said, PIA claims that despite being owned by Kape, they remain in control of their day-to-day operations. I haven’t heard of any major issues, since the acquisition. Kape also seems to like the profitability of their (several) VPNs.
Up to you if you trust them with your data. Personally, I do not.
Go with mullvad
They dont even have hard drives. They use ram only now. Which is quite funny
Based
If only there were a handy resource that covers this…
PIA is pretty shady. I’m only still using them because I paid for multiple years of service and while they’re a bad choice for privacy, it does the job of not making my ISP angy.
I signed up for a lifetime price of PIA because it was very cheap and have been using it ever since, but recently I noticed they doubled the charge out of the blue on me with no notice.
How do I decouple my overleaf account from my google account?
same here. I think I have 2 more years of service
Seems to be missing macbb.org :)
What’s this site?
Why not? Open registration, provides similar content to others listed.
I honestly can’t understand people bitching about getting screwed by subscriptions, or the number of them they have.
I got Amazon Prime because I started buying most of my shit that way during the pandemic. (Guess who’s never caught COVID!) But all I care about is the discounted shipping. I still steal their videos and put them on my NAS.

What are you, 13 years old on 4chan in 2009?
For anyone wondering, their account was created two days ago and half of their handful of comments are like this. That person is baiting. Just report, block, and move on.

Piracy will always be an arms race. The only way they can end it is by solving the problems that drive people to it. The size of the Internet is too large to block. I know I stopped piracy for 5 years because everything was accessible on Netflix and Hulu. Now all these streaming services I picked it back up.
Yeah, I’m heading back towards it as well.
Cancelled Prime because half the content has ads now, and the rest are getting ads next year.
What I want is one service, all mainstream content (no longer in cinemas, a few months after the disc release), for around £30/mo. 4K, HDR, good audio. I’m really not asking much. It’s got to the point where I want to watch something specific, check justwatch and find that either the only way to get it is to rent it for twice the price of buying the disc, or that none of them have it.
They need to learn from the music services. Music was the most pirated stuff a few years back, but now I just have Spotify and can listen to whatever, whenever. I don’t need 3 services, and fuck around looking for stuff.

I think you missed the point. None of these sites are solid like a rock and it isn’t just because people talk about them. It’s an arms race like they said. Things are always adapting
Most of these services are FOSS and they can’t be shut down because they don’t break any laws. The only thing that is in the gray zone are torrent sites, which are in abundance and it’s not really that hard to switch from one to another or create a new one as operating costs are almost zero.
