Then importantly accusing them of being domestic terrorists, and going after their supporters, groups, organizations, etc. They want the precedent of occupying cities with the military, federalizing the guards, bringing in loyal to them out of state guards in a state they federalized, and using handpicked good squads to target protesters and others.
Under their precedents they could execute a governor and walk away. As if the State doesn’t have a responsibility to file charges when they execute someone under false pretense. There is no information sharing they need to press charges anymore than they needed to investigate the president’s people to file charges after 1/6, it’s a cop out. An excuse not to cross connected lawbreakers, they wanted the job, either do it and extend the shield of state law, enshrined as sacrosanct in the 10th amendment, or get out of the way for someone that will.
