Starting in early March, the platform will place every account into a default “teen-appropriate” experience unless it has proof that users are adults.

The move has brought widespread criticism from Discord users, who are citing privacy and security concerns following a recent breach of a third-party vendor that ended up exposing around 70,000 government ID images used to verify the age of Discord users.

I mean, it’s a bit weird to get erect for being charged money and not controlling the software you pay for (also, to get erect over communications software at all), and weirder to tell us all about it, but okay.

Ts6 server owners need a sub. Clients are fine. I’ve used to since ts2. Those guys are good ppl. Not a big team. Just making good software for voice chat groups. I’ll never not love ts even though I don’t use it anymore.

If I could convince my communities to swap, I’d do it in a heartbeat. The new one is great.

Don’t get me wrong, I used teamspeak with my friends back in the day for Counterstrike, Starcraft, Warcraft, DoTA (yeah, the mod), and it was great. TS6 does look awesome, and I like the new interface even. But none of that is relevant, read what I wrote: I didn’t say “I have a problem with using clients”, or even honestly “I have a problem with all closed-source software”. I said “I am done trying to get people to install another app” and because I can’t get anyone to install another app, “clients are a nonstarter for my use case”. That’s it, that’s the reason.

                Shit man, you just said

If I could convince my communities to swap

So you fucking get it. I’m not going to pay for a license for software that nobody’s going to use because of the bullshit excuse that they’d “have to install another app”. Instead I spent a few days of my time learning some stuff (which I’d have had to do for TS6 anyway) and got Stoat up and running in my environment, and now I have a web app for voice calls. They don’t support video or screensharing yet, but that’s not a nonstarter for me because those features are on the roadmap.

All they would have to do is get a web interface and host on there servers with a nitro type deal and they could kill discord right now

Agreed. No joke, if they had a web interface I’d already have a license and I’d be running that instead.
