Pirating a game still supports the release by becoming a common topic.
If you want to protest, ignore the developer and their every game. Otherwise you still use their product and help with marketing.
Fuck any developer who busts unions and doesn’t compensate their employees justly.
Sail the high seas.
or just don’t buy their games at all. there’s so many games out there.
So make the game devs and workers unemployed? That’s your solution to workplace abuses?
They’re already unemployed. And the rest will be unemployed once development is deemed “done”, as is the industry standard.
Right, industry standards. That’s why it’s silly to act like rockstar is the only one. All your favourite games that aren’t Indy are made in the same way including most pc games
So we pirate those as well
damn I feel like the real weirdo in this thread , if I want to play a game I buy it on epix or steam and maybe in the future gog . I used to pirate back in the day, but I quit that. I want to support the people that make my life fun. I realized later in life.
I think your average Linux user does want to give game creators their fair share. But they would like to withhold from those that take away from others.
I more or less stopped pirating games after moving my PC to Linux full time.
People are specifically suggesting that this game be pirated due to rockstar being shitty to its employees. I would imagine the majority of people on Lemmy do buy their games, probably a lot more through steam than epic though.
