Not sure where else to inquire about this, but i got hime from wirk and gave my cats some shrimp temptations. I rarely ever give them treats, but i figured why not. Nini was hesitant about them at first but ate 3-4, then she started to make puke sounds and puked a bit. Only the treats and some bile came out, and she seems to have stopped.
Did she have an allergic reaction? She seems to be relatively fine now, maybe a bit sluggish. In the year that i have had her this is only the second time she has puked, and the first time was maybe a month ago.
How old is your cat? Did the treats come up whole? One of my cats is just a glutton and eats too fast some times. Also in my experience cats throw up more as they age.
My understanding of histamine reactions is that vomiting is not one of them. However I am not educated on this topic.
Yeah, they were all whole amd she is eating her regular food now. I dod a search that said puking up temptations was pretty common for cats.
I think it’s the shape. They’re small enough to swallow without chewing but the corners can irritate kitty insides.
My cat pukes all the time. For any reason. Consistently pukes in a few spots too. She’s perfectly healthy, but I think cats just puke sometimes.
Nah, that’s just a thing cats do sometimes. If she keeps throwing up, that’s when you should be more concerned.
A cat throwing up once is no cause for concern.
My two cats who certainly get their fair share of treats occasionally puke them up from eating too fast.
This could be the case, given they rarely get them.
If she seems happy and fine - it could be what I said, she may not like the specific flavor or perhaps it was a small reaction.
If all is well tomorrow, try giving a single treat, and see if it comes back up again.
If so, or she acts unusual from today’s treats, definitely do consult an actual vet. There are some virtual services, saw you are a ways away from an in person vet.
Happy to try and answer any questions if I can, but I wouldn’t stress too much unless she’s acting weird.
If you’re concerned about the health of your pet you should probably consult a veterinarian not people online.
Taking a cat to the vet because it threw up once is just going to be a waste of everyone’s time and money.
There’s many dozens of benign reasons for a cat throwing up, including it being a behavioral issue. A single occurrence is by no means a reason to worry. It would be like taking a kid to a pediatrician because they sneezed.
When it’s a frequent occurrence that you should worry. Once is an event, twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern.
I get that, but it’s also 6 pm on a Friday. The closest emergency vet is 50 miles away and the cat seems to be ok. I’m just trying to gauge if that’s a common reaction for cats, similar to how i would be asking around if i just had a puke the first time i ate a Snickers bar
Pick up the phone and call the vet.
