You don’t really need to reposition nuclear subs as a show of power - that’s not how they work.
They play a specific role in nuclear deterrence, in that they stay hidden and provide retaliation capability in case the mainland gets attacked and nuclear silos in Montana, etc. get destroyed.
Yeah we can nuke the goddamn moon with a missile controlled from earth. We have hypersonic jets that can carry nuclear payloads from bases all across the planet. Those are the first strike legs of the nuclear triad. The subs are terrible at first strike capacity, but so long as they remain hidden they can’t really be prevented from assuring mutual destruction.
But also Trump didnt know the nuclear triad in 2016 and his brain was only mostly pudding back then
The Trumpster, as usual, has no idea what he’s talking about; I remember, I think it was in one of the debates he was asked about the nuclear triad and he clearly had no idea what it was. Always comforting to know that someone like that has their finger close to the button at all times.
