I played with some clever reflection practical effects to give the appearance of a giant mech, perhaps something like from Nier: Automata, coming in from the Puget Sound.
This picture was captured atop the Space Needle, but I wanted to make something decidedly not touristy.
Thanks for seeing my work!
Nice photo. Typical foggy PNW. I think Seattle is in Washington state… unless there’s one also in Oregon with a Space Needle I’ve never heard of.
Yeah best we got in Oregon is Dallas, OR
You have a Springfield and a Portland, both of which are famous for also being in other states.
Also, Salem and Paris
That’s funny, I’ve lived in all those places.
And a Zig-Zag, a Rhododendron, and a general store called Wanker’s Corner.
And they say we Americans don’t know Geography.
My brain cannot really comprehend what’s going on here
The windows that keep people from jumping off the Space Needle observation deck are tilted at an angle, so you can see more of the ground right under it (also part of the floor inside is windows now so you can look straight down.)
As a result, the reflections from the observation deck windows are of what’s above and behind the observers looking at them - which happens to be the Needle’s roof and mast.
So this picture is, starting at the bottom: Some of downtown, the waterfront, Puget Sound (the water), West Seattle, some islands, The Olympic mountains, some clouds, and the reflection of the Needle’s roof, then its tower, and the supports connecting to the observation deck.
And I had to hold the camera very steady to get the tower in the dead center of the frame.
Yeah, that looks like it was a very tough shot, and well done!
It’s the reflection of the tower on glass
