Don’t mind me, just want to check if my random self hosted instance works with Mastodon too
This really is pretty incredible. It’s a little rough around the edges now, but with Lemmy gaining popularity fast, I can’t wait to see how much it improves :)
@Tony@ubergeek77@shitpisscum So, communities are actors and the way you post in a community is by @ metioning it (at least that’s what lemmy/kbin appears to be doing in the backend). Now, you join a community by following it’s actor, I assume it repeats everything posted at it.
And people thought I was joking a year or so ago when I said that freedompatriot bot was basically how AP groups could be impleneted lol.
cc @alex remember Pleroma groups? Isn’t this basically it?
@ubergeek77 You got it! I’m honestly a little lost as I’m just wilding @'ing things and seeing what happens. Feels like I should have been tracking this a bit better and turn it into a blog post or something. Let me know what replying to this does on your server.
Just looks like a normal comment reply to me! Only thing to note, it looks like everyone on Mastodon always prepends their Lemmy comments with @<user> before the body of the comment.
Unfortunately, we on Lemmy can’t really “see” Mastodon content yet, we can only reply to you if you reply first. But hopefully that changes soon enough!
Hello, mastodon user, nice to have you here. 😁
@joyjoy nice of you to have me! I’m now cross-posting multiple Lemmy threads across multiple accounts. Confused but this is honestly thrilling… 😂
