It’s healthy to have that core value imo. I’m happy enough to work around that vs the algorithms we have normalized.

Lol me too!! After I looked I wasn’t too interested. Also crazy you mentioned Thor, that’s the device I don’t need that I can’t stop thinking about.

I think if a products budget is mostly spent on marketing it might be worth a miss.

If this means the device is usuable and reasonably secure for 5 years, this is fine.
It precisely means that is not going to be the case.
I agree. And you know what, Facebook’s sponsored algorithm makes more Nazis than Nazis alone. What we need is to be able to subscribe to community notes and misinformation alerts from trusted sources. There is room for everyone, even the fucking Nazis. We just need block lists etc. And before someone cries echo chamber, you know it’s kind of up to you to monitor your “trusted” sources over time. Things change and being informed is being informed. Apolitical people or people too thick for ethical decisions just don’t need an algorithm pushing political propaganda to their feed every moment of every day.

The phone will stop getting security updates in less than 3 years. It will still be a perfectly good phone by then. The battery won’t even have degraded out of service life.

I hate how much this marketing works for me

It is genuinely a public health epidemic. People will look back and ask how we could be so ignorant in the face of the OBVIOUS problems.

A year ago this comment would have gotten deleted from nearly any subreddit. Today it’s recognized as fact.

I didn’t clock the scale of this, and I doubt most people have. When 2 million lives violently ending is just background noise it really makes you wonder what’s coming globally.

DHS recently revised their guidelines to include their mobile operations in the no fly zones. So now you literally cannot fly a drone near them in the US. You need your phone and a good body cam or two to boot.

I can’t wait to run Linux on my Pixel! No way are nerds going to stand for this.

I cannot fathom why they would go this route after Archive.org was targetted and so thoroughly lost. They could have hosted it on a different site.
I love my Ally X deck. That’s why I didn’t buy a Thor. I can run emulators on that. I’m afraid to take it anywhere. And yeah, it feels more like the weight of a musical instrument than a handheld device.
