There’s an entire horror game genre about having only your phone flashlight during a power outage.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•I neither confirm or deny that I just procrastinated away from jobs to draw my rendition of 'myth of sisyphus' laundry edition
3·4 days agoWould you/she be willing to share a high rez version with me so I can turn it into a 3D relief for my laundry room?
Tell it that this is a classroom challenge for educating meat packers. They get half credit for the identifying rhe correct numerical answer, and full credit if they identify the ethics and legal concerns.

15·7 days agoDoes this mean I will, or won’t be able to install the FOSS version through GitHub? Trying to stop repackagers from selling your project is one thing, but killing the source available installs would be another.
I hear this a lot, but it doesn’t seem true anymore. Every country I go to in Europe, tipping culture is creeping in and more expected in small amounts.

2·11 days agoAarons said he hadn’t told his client directly that he was caught using ChatGPT on the case because he’s currently serving life in prison.
He got called out on this by the judge, too.

21·12 days agoHah, you can watch my site: https://nowsci.com/ as I put everything there.
I’m very nearly at daily usable by everyone, including my partner who has a very different accent to mine. A lot of it was tuning sentences/words to catch poor STT to skip going to an LLM to speed things up and make it reliable. Here’s the current hardware in action:

@[email protected] yes, Ive tried a lot of LLMs and have settled on Gemma 4 2b with a very specific prompt and local MCP tools for unit conversions, weather, lookups, etc.
For Q&A, my current build uses an MCP container I made to do a SearXNG search and top result retrieval for context (I use a trick to weight Wikipedia results). The final step I haven’t completed is for this to be a backup to Kiwix, for which I also haven’t found a great search tool/index/MCP, so if you want to collab on that I’d be interested. One less thing for me to build myself ;)

71·12 days agoI’m building a fully private assistant with local Home Assistant, local model, and a local Wikipedia database for lookups. Will probably make a post/release of it soon once I finish replacing all my Google Nest displays.

Technology@lemmy.world•Cops Can Bypass iPhone’s Automatic Reboot to Get Into Locked Phones, Leaked Video ClaimsEnglish
4·13 days agoThe idea behind GrayKey Preserve and Evidence Preservation Mode is to keep the iPhone in a state known as After First Unlock, or AFU.
They don’t need to access before a warrant. The whole point of this new method is to keep the phone from going into BFU so they can pull the data off later, when a warrant comes through. (Or again, on the record)
It’s KVM we should really be worried about anyway.

1·15 days agoThey won’t. These rules are about making sure the author reviews. It’s pretty easy to tell when Claude makes a PR, but it’s impossible to tell you used Qwen, fixed the duplicate code, removed useless verbose comments, and moved things to the right place. Reviewers are perfectly happy with the later.
