Yesterday I paid a birthday visit to my friend who took in Koda. They have had a familiy with kids visiting before me, which was pretty loud. So Koda was quite tired and relaxing in his hammock, but he still was curious about what’s going on.
Cats never really sleep. They wait.
Or you being 15 cm from their face woke them up and they’re weary of you.
Nah he had just curled up after enjoying some belly rubs and was about to doze off.
Sounds like a good boi.

Me on the couch in the living room that night my parents didn’t notice Basic Instinct is playing on TV.
No matter how domesticated a cat is, their natural instinct will often be to sleep with their eyes partially open. You may even notice their eyes moving around while they are still asleep.
Predators hunt! And they certainly don’t want to be hunted in return.
Fun fact: Cats are also capable of uni-hemispheric slow-wave sleep where they sleep w/ only half of their brain (one eye open, one eye closed)
That’s just a cat with running silent mode engaged
